Estimation of Parameters in a Zero-inflated Power Series Model

Abstract

This paper discusses the maximum likelihood and the method of moments estimation of parameters in a zero-inflated power series model. This model is shown to belong to two parameter exponential family. The maximum likelihood and the moment estimators are asymptotically compared. Further, the special cases of the zero-inflated power series model viz. zero-inflated Poisson, binomial, and negative binomial models are also discussed.
