Abstract
Ascitic fluid analysisis routinely done for finding out the type of ascites. In the present study we have analysed ascitic fluid to calculate serum ascites albumin gradient. This parameter helps us to find out whether ascites is with portal hypertension(PHT) or without PHT. Total 60 patients with ascites were analysed for SAAG and compared. The level of SAAG>1.1gm% is indicator of portal hypertension while SAAG level <1.1gm% is indicates the absence of portal hypertension.
